Xiomáro (SEE-oh-MAH-ro) is today's guest and a fascinating conversation ensued during the course of our time together in the studio. Xiomáro is an artist who has been working in photographs for a number of years. He is currently the Weir Farm National Historic Site Visiting Artist (since 2012) located in Wilton, CT. The Site is the former home and studio of the artist J. Alden Weir (1852-1919), the father of American Impressionist painting. Weir with other artists including Winslow Homer, Willliam Merritt Chase, and others formed the Tile Club where they created hand-crafted ceramic tiles. Borrowing on this idea, Xiomáro has taken photo prints he created and applied them to black ceramic tiles of various square sizes. An exhibition of these tiles is on display at the Weir Farm National Historic Site through October 31, 2017. Viewing hours are Wednesday through Sunday from 10a to 4p. Admission is free.
